Come Celebrate the Life of Mary at Fisher Grove Country Club dining room on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 12:00 p.m.  There will be lunch and fellowship at this time, to honor Mary.

Mary was born August 3, 1959, to Dennis and Erlene (Paul) Ragatz in Redfield, SD.   She graduated from Doland High School in 1977, followed by one year of a technical school in Minnesota.   Mary worked at Community Memorial Hospital and SDDC as a lab and x-ray technician in Redfield.   After her retirement, she could devote more time to helping her husband on the farm and even more time with her horses.  She spent many hours with her horses and would ride her horse in any parade around the area.

She married David Jessen on August 8, 1981, in Redfield.   They had two sons: Michael Jessen and Matthew (Randi) Jessen, both of Redfield.

When Mary was growing up, she rode horses every day.   Many times, while on a two-mile horse ride to Mary's grandparents' house with her sister and mother, they were followed by a dog, a cat, and a goat!    Her love of horses continued as she raised her foals out of her paint stallions and mares!   She was always working on trying to get a horse with four white socks, a blaze face, and or spots.

Mary cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, playing games, and cards.  Mary stayed active swimming with her aerobics class, never missing a session.  She will also be remembered for always being busy cleaning and organizing.

Mary will be truly missed by her husband of 41 years, David; sons: Michael Jessen and Matthew (Randi) Jessen; grandchildren: Dallas, Conner (Bridget), Cully, and Chloe; great-grandchildren: Everlee and Ryker, all of Redfield; mother: Erlene Ragatz of Aberdeen, SD; sisters: Donna (Dane) Lambert of Frankfort, SD, Denene (Donny) Miles of Aberdeen; uncle: Myron (Charlene) Ragatz; aunt: Norma Ganje; mother-in-law: Ruth Jessen.

She was preceded in death by her dad: Dennis Ragatz; brother: Paul Ragatz; uncles: Wayne Ragatz and Merlin Paul; and both sets of great-grandparents.
