Obituary

Maryrose M. Avery, 84, of Tulare, SD, died Friday, October 18, 2013 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Her funeral will be Monday, October 21, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the Tulare United Church in Tulare. Pastor Lorah Houser Jankord will officiate. Burial will be in the Tulare Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, at the Eastern Star Home Chapel starting at 3:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. www.thelenfuneralhome.com.

Maryrose Mamie Avery was born March 12, 1929 near Tulare to Fred and Lydia (Humburg) Schultz. She was named after three different aunts, Mary Humburg, Rose Siegling and Mamie Bogie. Maryrose attended country school for eight years at Pleasant Ridge School five miles west of Tulare. She graduated from Tulare High School in 1946. She worked at Montgomery Ward's in Redfield and Spink County Treasurer's office for four years. Maryrose and Eugene Avery were married March 4, 1950 at St. John's Lutheran Church west of Tulare. In the early fifties, they moved to a farm where they farmed and raised livestock. Eugene died in 1981 and Maryrose continued to live on the farm until moving to the Eastern Star Home in 2010.

Maryrose enjoyed antiques and worked at the Weathervane Antique store. She also raised many beautiful flowers. Her pride and joy was her family and especially her grandchildren.

Maryrose is survived by her three sons: Rick (LeShea) Avery of Redfield and their sons: Taylor and Hunter; Ron (Becky) Avery of Tulare and their daughter Heather; and Allan Avery of Tulare and his daughter Ashley. She is also survived by her brother Earl Schultz of Redfield, her brother-in-law Kenny (Delores) Avery of Redfield and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene, her brother Kenny (Eloise) Schultz and her sister-in-law Arlene Schultz.
