Matthew Jonathon Carr, 19, of Pipestone, MN, passed away at home on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. In keeping with Matthew's loving and generous spirit, it was his decision to donate life so that others may live.
His Celebration of Life service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD. Reverend Keith C. Kraft will officiate. All who loved him are welcome.
Cremation will take place after the service and inurnment will be held privately at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield at a later date.
The service will be live-streamed through a link on the funeral home's website below Matthew's obituary. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home (www.hykefuneralhome.com).
Matthew was born July 29, 2006, in Aberdeen, SD, at St. Luke's Hospital, to Craig Carr and Heather (Schmidt) Carr.
He was known for his quirky sense of humor, his kind spirit, and his big heart. He had a way of making people laugh even on their hardest days, and he cared deeply for everyone around him. Those who knew him will always remember his warmth, his compassion, and the love he freely gave.
He spent his youth in Redfield. He attended Redfield Public School. He loved playing football, wrestling, basketball, and baseball. He enjoyed fishing, disc golf, playing his guitars and writing his own music, hunting, and video games.
Matthew is survived by his parents Craig and Heather Carr; daughter Isabella Baumann; brothers Micheal Carr and Ryan Carr; grandparents: Marlin and Gladys Schmidt and Frank and Sarah Carr; aunts and uncles: Misty and Allen Anderson, Michele and Travis Wilkie, Danny and Norie Carr, Anna Carr and Lee Boyles, Jeff Carr, Kerry Carr and Kevin Corkins, and many cousins.
He will be profoundly missed, but the memory of his kindness and the joy he brought into the world will remain in our hearts forever.
