Maxine was born on July 11, 1928, in Faulkton, SD, to Mike and Florence (Montgomery) Bauhs. Growing up, she attended grade school and high school in Faulkton.
After graduation, she moved to Redfield, where she met the love of her life, Harold "Coe" Waddington. They were married on February 18, 1947, and this union had five children.
After their children were older, Maxine was employed at Medical Arts and drove a school bus for 16 ½ years.
Maxine and Coe were very proud of their home, which they built themselves. When the home was finished, they built their lake cabin, where they spent many hours entertaining, gardening, and grooming.
Together, they loved fishing, hunting, and gardening, but their ultimate love was following their grandchildren in sporting events. They were one of their greatest supporters.
On October 3, 2019, Maxine moved into assisted living at the Eastern Star Home, where she received the best care that she could have been given.
Maxine is survived by her children: Linda (Dennis) Smith of Tulare, SD, Barbara Stoner of Tulare, SD, Shari (Robert) Sparling of Athol, SD, and Dennis Waddington of Redfield, SD; 13 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Patricia Ann Waddington, three brothers: Raymond Bauhs, Derald Bauhs, and Gordon Bauhs; and one sister, Lucille Thares.
In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests donations for the activity program at the Eastern Star Home (Eastern Star Home / Activity Department / PO Box 150 / Redfield, SD / 57469).
