March 19, 1924 – July 18, 2016
Metha Marie Pankratz, 92, of Redfield, SD, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 at Golden Living Center in Redfield where she resided for a short period of time. Her funeral service will be Friday, July 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Redfield. Reverend Tammy Toepke-Floyd will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. Family will be present from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to accept condolences. Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. (www.thelen-hykefuneralhome.com)
Metha was born March 19, 1924 in Scotland, SD, to Mathias and Emma (Kayser) Bauder and she was the youngest of five children. She graduated from Scotland High School. Metha married Lester Pankratz on August 21, 1949 in Scotland and together they raised their three children, David, Paula and Steven. Lester passed away June 22, 1984.
Metha will always be remembered as a kind and fun loving person who enjoyed living at the PBC Apartments in Redfield for the past five years. Bingo and playing cards with her many friends made her very happy.
Metha is survived by her son David (Lyn) Pankratz of Grand Forks, ND and their children: Tom Pankratz, Brenda Buettner, Trisha Anderson, Bill Klug and Bobbie Lohry; her daughter Paula (Todd) Gass of Long Beach, CA and their son Jeffrey; her son Steven (Cinda) Pankratz of Sioux Falls, SD and their daughters: Audrey and Grace. Metha is also survived by six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Metha was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Edwin and Hugo; her sisters, Adeline and Edna and her loving husband, Lester.
Her children loved her dearly and she will be deeply missed by all.
Family will be present from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. to accept condolences.
