Milbert "Bill" Sandmeier, 71, of Redfield, SD, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. His funeral will be Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Redfield. Pastor Brad Traxler will officiate. Burial will be in the Bohemian Cemetery near Highmore, SD. Visitation will be Friday from 2-7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Milbert was born October 27, 1941 in Roscoe, SD to Samuel and Magdalena (Bader) Sandmeier.
He grew up in Watertown and Redfield and married Janice Cermak on April 4, 1979 in Faulkton, SD. He worked at South Dakota Developmental Center-Redfield for thirty years as a painter and carpenter. After his retirement, he enjoyed having coffee with his friends, camping, gardening and growing flowers. He enjoyed woodworking, tinkering to fix anything and decorating for Christmas with villages and decorations. He loved his family and his granddaughters were his pride and joy.
Milbert collected clocks, hats, tools and fishing equipment.
Milbert is survived by his wife, Janice of Redfield, his sons: Samuel (Tiffany) Sandmeier of Kearney, NE and their children: Zoey and Alexandria; and Anthony Sandmeier of Kearney, NE.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
