Mildred "Midge" Young, 83, of Ashton, SD, died Saturday, January 04, 2014 at the Eastern Star Home in Redfield.
Her funeral will be Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Burial will be at the Ashton Cemetery near Ashton. Reverend Stephen Perry will officiate.

Midred "Midge" Badger was born January 10, 1930, Belle Fourche, SD to Charles and Viva (Woodward) Badger. She grew up in the Trojan, SD area, moved to Athol, SD and graduated from Redfield High School in 1947. Midge attended Northern State Teachers College and received her teaching certificate. She taught school in several country schools.
Midge married Barton Young October 19, 1950 at Webster. They farmed in the Ashton/ Athol area before moving to Spearfish, for a short time, where Barton worked in the saw mill. They moved back to Redfield and she began working at SDDC-Redfield as a dorm parent in 1965, where she continued to work until she retired in 1991.
She enjoyed watching game shows on television, going to casinos and playing the penny machines, but most of all spending time with her family. Midge also liked to just drive around and check out the country and traveling around the Midwest.
Midge is survived by her children: Greg (Sandra) Young of Hartford, SD; Peggy Jansen of Aberdeen, SD; David (Kathy) Young of Ft. Pierre, SD; Steve (Judy) Young of Kalama, WA; Clyle Young of Ashton and Delila Jungwirth of Ashton, SD. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. She is also survived by one brother Dan Badger of Las Vegas, NV; several brother and sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Barton in August of 2010; two brothers: Chuck Badger and Bud Badger; three sisters: Armenta Harry, Joyce Baughman and Marilyn Phillips
