Mildred C. Tubandt, 99, of Tulare, SD died Saturday, February 07, 2015 at the Eastern Star Home in Redfield. Her funeral will be Friday, February 13, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Tulare United Church. Pastor Lorah Houser Jankord will officiate. After a time for lunch and fellowship the burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. Visitation will be Thursday, starting at 4:30 p.m. with the family present at 5:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:00 p.m., all at the Eastern Star Home Chapel in Redfield.

Mildred C Tubandt was born on a farm near Tulare, SD to Walter and Anna (Ernster) Otto on July 19, 1915. She grew up southwest of Tulare and attended country school. Mildred married Vernon R Tubandt on December 29, 1933. They made their home in the Tulare/Redfield area until 1943 when they moved to Waterloo, IA, where they raised their children and Vernon worked for John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works. Mildred worked for Hinson Manufacturing for a short time and as an Avon Lady for several years. They lived in Waterloo until 1981 when they returned to Tulare. Mildred and Vernon shared 61 years together before he passed away in 1994.
Mildred was involved in the First Methodist Church Circle in Waterloo, Iowa and Tulare United Church, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Spink County Extension Club. When her children were young she was a Girl Scout leader and a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, she also enjoyed crocheting and doing crossword puzzles.
Mildred is survived by her daughter Barbara Nelson, Heston, KS, her sons: Richard (Rosemary) Tubandt Tulare; and Craig (Becky) Tubandt Modesto, CA; nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandsons and her sister Margery Walsh, Huron, SD.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon, two brothers: Darrald Otto and Delbert Otto, one sister Betty French, one daughter Joan M. Richards, one grandson Michael J. Richards and a son-in-law Bill Nelson.
