Mildred Elaine White was born on February 10th, 1933, to Glen (Bud) and Agnes (Klapperich) White in Aberdeen, SD. The oldest of their four daughters, Millie grew up in the Conde and Crandall areas, where she attended St. John's Catholic Church, country school and spent special times with her Klapperich cousins. She graduated with the Conde High School Class of 1952, many who remained lifelong friends. Millie continued her education at Presentation College in Aberdeen, receiving her teaching certificate and then teaching country school at Crandall for four years.
Millie met Larry Dahlin of Gibbon, MN, while he was working for a harvesting crew in the Conde area. They were married on July 2nd, 1955, in Dutton, MT, and made their home in Conde. This is where they would welcome their two daughters, Laurianne (Laurie) and Virginia (Ginny), and worked side by side at Dahlin's Welding shop for twenty years. Larry passed away unexpectedly in May 1978 at forty-four years of age, and Millie and the girls' lives were forever changed.
Millie began a thirteen-year career with Northwestern Public Service, starting in the Conde office and later transferring to the Huron home office as a Home Service Advisor. After retiring, Millie moved back to Conde, where she loved working in her yard and garden, baking her famous caramel rolls, sewing baby blankets for family and friends, helping others with painting, cleaning, and anything else she could do for them. But most of all, Millie loved being able to attend her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities.
Millie also traveled to missions in Mexico, Guatemala, and the Berakhah House in Sioux Falls to help her cousin, Sister Elizabeth Remily and Sister Joanna Bruno. These were treasured and always memorable trips.
Millie remained active until the age of eighty-six, when she became a resident of Primrose Place, now Derian Place. She then entered hospice care at Angelhaus South in September of this year. Millie passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of November 24th, 2023.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Laurie (Mark) Norris, Salem, SD; Ginny (Rory) Troske, Turton, SD; six grandchildren, Adrian (Melanie), Justin (Melissa), Shawn (Cheryl), and Kristin Norris, Nathan Troske and Stephanie (Shane) Hagstrom, 12 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mary Louise McCormick, special cousins, Sister Liz Remily, who was more of an older sister, and Ang Larson, who was like a third daughter.
Welcoming Millie into heaven are her parents, Bud and Agnes; beloved husband, Larry, sisters Rosemary, in infancy, and Rosalie Pace, brother-in-law, Robert (Arnold) McCormick; and special friends, Florian (Mac) and Fern McPartland.
Millie's family would like to thank everyone who helped care for her these past four years. You are all angels.
Mom is finally back in Dad's arms after forty-five years of missing him.
