Obituary

Nancy McMahan, 77, of Redfield, SD died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Golden Living Center in Redfield.

Her funeral will be Monday, November 2, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Redfield. Reverend Tim Fugman will officiate.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Closed casket visitation will be Sunday from 4-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Nancy was born February 14, 1932 in Omaha, Nebraska. Her parents were Lloyd and Mildred (Waymire) Johnson. She attended Huron High School and graduated from beauty college. Nancy married Dr. W. L. "Doc" McMahan on October 4, 1957 in Aberdeen. Nancy owned and operated Nan's Beauty Nook in Redfield for a few years before raising her family.

Nancy was an active member of the Paul A. Schleher VFW Post #2755 Auxiliary. She enjoyed helping at the VFW with the chicken feeds and the banquets. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ.

Nancy was an excellent cook and enjoyed playing cards, needle point, spending time at Pickerel Lake, Cottonwood Lake and traveling. Her biggest joy was her children and grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her husband Doc McMahan of Redfield; her five children: Carol (Tom) Leinen of Redfield and their daughter Trisha; David (Bev) McMahan of Redfield and their children: Adam, Megan (Brent Fliehe) and Audree (Jesse) Demmers; Shari (Clyde) Harr of Zell and their children: Elizabeth (Craig) Krogstad, John, Joseph and Emily; Kathi (Bryon) Anderson of Redfield and their children: Tynan (Nathan Marlow), Jordan and Jarret; and Gary (Teresa) McMahan of Moyock, NC and their children: Richard, Carly, Connor and Cammie. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren, her twin brother Don (Nancy) Johnson of Akeley, MN and two step children: James (Elena) McMahan and Didi (Bill) Blagg and five step grandchildren; two nephews and one niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
