Nichoelas "Nick" Hallsted, 37, of Redfield, SD, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Avantara Redfield.   Following Nick's wishes, he will be cremated and his family will have a service at a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home of Redfield ( www.hykefuneralhome.com ).

Nick was born in Redfield on May 12, 1985, right before moving to Chadron, NE, with his mother and older sister, Misty, where they welcomed his brother, Micah.  Around 1998, Nick and his family moved back to Redfield, where they remained.  Nick graduated in 2004 with his high school diploma from Redfield High School.

On April 30th, 2006, Nick welcomed his son, Damion, with Ashley (Mohr) Zerr.  For the last five years, Nick has been cared for at Avantara Redfield nursing home.

For many years, Nick worked for Leo's Good Food in Redfield as a dishwasher.  Nick enjoyed hunting, fishing, hanging out with family, friends, and especially with his son Damion, playing video games, board games, driving around, and watching TV shows with his mother.

He is survived by his son Damion Hallsted of Aberdeen, SD; brother Micah (Stephanie Hansen) Hallsted and one niece Renna Hallsted, all of Redfield.  He is also survived by one aunt Deb (James) Wagner of Doland, SD; and two uncles:  David Brothers of Doland and Dennis Brothers of Hammond, IN.

Nick was preceded in death by his father Bill Hallsted, mother Dawn (Brothers) Hallsted, sister Misty Hallsted, and grandmother Norma Brothers.
