Norman Dean French, 81, of Redfield, SD died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at home after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.

Norman was cremated and his memorial service will be Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Redfield. Reverend Stephen Perry will officiate.

Military rites will follow the memorial service. There will be a time for lunch and fellowship. Burial of ashes will be at a later date. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Norman Dean French was born July 2, 1928 to Earl and Pearl (Sickles) French in Hitchcock. He entered the U. S. Army after graduating from Wolsey High School in 1945. Norman married Korlys K. Delaney on February 28, 1956 in Tulare. He farmed in the Bonilla area and also drove school bus for the Bonilla School District. Following his wife's death, Norman moved to Bonilla and worked at the SDDC-Redfield until his retirement.

Norman married Myrna (Paulsen) Siebrecht on June 9, 1984 in Redfield, where they resided until his death. Norman enjoyed making horse drawn miniature machinery, going to farm toy shows, fishing with grandchildren and spending time with his family.

Norman is survived by his wife, Myrna of Redfield, two sons: Alan (Noreen) French of Bonilla and their children: Bryce (Desi) French, Chad (Shayla) French and Darin (Bridgette) French; Norman (Jody) Siebrecht of Redfield and their children: Trevor, Seth and Jensyn; three daughters: Diane French of Redfield and her children Shane and Autumn; Denise (David) Hofeman of Redfield and their children, Jade, Kaden and Jaci; Brenda (Jason) Hammrich of Aberdeen and their children: Cameron, Courtney, Skylar and Madyson; four great grandchildren, one brother Vernon and two sisters: Jean and Eleanor.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Kay, a brother Wayne and a sister Lois.
