Nyssa Beth-King (Mueller) Firewalker, 71, of Hutchinson, MN, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Woodstone Senior Living Community in Hutchinson.  She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield, SD.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home of Redfield.  (www.hykefuneralhome.com)

Nyssa was the fourth child born to Alfred and Elva (Fleischer) Mueller on March 29, 1949.  She was confirmed in May of 1964 by Reverend John Bradkey at St. John's Lutheran Church in Arlington, MN.  Nyssa married Nelder Gifferson on November 6, 1976, and she married into a family with his adult children.  Nelder died on January 16, 1993.

She lived in Hutchinson working various jobs until she moved to Redfield, SD in January of 2000.  She worked at the Redfield Senior Center as a janitor for about three years.  She entered senior living in Hutchinson in 2017.

Nyssa enjoyed painting, crocheting, beadwork, camping, and nature, in particular the stars, moon, heaven, and sun.  She loved working with flowers and woodworking.  She had a passion for all animals, even creepy crawly ones, but especially cats and dogs.

Nyssa liked to go to church and participated as both a greeter and server.

She is survived by her stepchildren:  Mervin (Gina) Gifferson, Lyle (Maxine) Gifferson, Gary (Louise) Gifferson, Dorie (Jim) Woodwick and Gale (Robin) Gifferson; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as her siblings.

Nyssa was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one grandson.
