Patricia Lea "Pat" Frericks, 69, of Ashton, SD, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Her funeral will be Friday, May 10, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Northwestern United Methodist Church in Mellette, SD. Reverend Jon Damaska will officiate. Burial will be in the Ashton Cemetery with lunch and fellowship to follow at the Ashton Community Hall. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com
Pat was born January, 6, 1944 in Huron, SD to Robert and Leora (Harder) Addison. She grew up in Huron and moved, with her family, to Redfield. She attended Redfield High School and married Richard "Sut" Frericks on March 9, 1962 in Redfield. She worked at various businesses before becoming the head of the Community Memorial Hospital food service. She worked at the hospital for over twenty years. Pat then started at SDDC-Redfield as dietary manager for Aviand's Food Service. She retired after thirteen years and many food service awards.
Pat enjoyed shopping (anywhere and for everything), traveling, watching bull riding, going to the casino and to the river, reading and relaxing, on the pontoon. Her door was always open to everyone. She was a very loving and caring person. Her biggest joy was her grandchildren and great grandson, Stetson.
Pat is survived by her children: Shane Frericks, Shannon Frericks, Shawn (Vonda) Frericks, Stacey (Anne) Frericks and Sherelle (Henry) Zens all of Ashton. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren one great grandson and three sisters: Evonne (Dale) May of Huron, SD; Juanita (Todd) Johnson of Huron, SD; and Deb (Daryl) Miller of Sioux Falls, SD and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Sut, in 2007.
