Our sweet, "Pesky Patsy" of Redfield, SD, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Avantara Redfield.  She has been reunited with her beloved husband, Bob, her daughter, Danette, and her four brothers and sister, Dan, Reid, Clyford, Donny, and Dolores.  We are sure they were all waiting to greet her.

Born on November 10, 1930, in Redfield, Patsy would tell anyone who asked her how she was "ornery as dirt and twice as nasty."  She attended school in Redfield and graduated from the Redfield High School Class of 1948.  She met Bob Kent at the Red Owl Store soon after he finished his service in the Navy and they married in 1950.  They moved to California in 1954 where they raised five children. Patsy worked at Stanford University Medical Center for 25 years and at retirement time, they moved back to South Dakota and settled in Tulare.

Patsy's memory will be forever cherished by her son Lee of Redfield, son Scott and daughter-in-law Donna of Pioneer, CA, son Bill and daughter-in-law Shirley of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, daughter Roberta and son-in-law David of Felton, CA; her much-loved grandchildren Matthew, Kristen, and Eddie; her great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews that she loved to call on the phone and never forgot a birthday.  Patsy was preceded in Heaven by her husband Bob, daughter Danette, grandson Benjamin, granddaughter Jill, parents Sonora and Lewis Houghtaling, four brothers, and one sister.

In addition to her family, Patsy will be dearly missed by her many friends and acquaintances, who were touched by her kindness and grace.

Patsy will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and her kind spirit.  She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.  May she rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
