Pauline Nelson, 90, of Redfield, SD died peacefully at her residence on Thursday, March 29, 2007.
Her funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2007, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Redfield. Pastor Tim Fugman will officiate. Burial will follow in the Burdette Cemetery
Visitation will be Wednesday, from 1- 800 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home, family will be present from 6-8:00 p.m. to accept condolences. (www.thelenfuneralhome.com)
Pauline Arvesta was born on January 13, 1917, on a farm near Ronneby, MN to Clifton and Pearle (Briggs) Cotton. Her family moved to Cresbard in March 1917, traveling by train. She graduated from Cresbard High school in 1934. She married Majored "Bus" Nelson on November 8, 1936, in Cresbard. They moved to a farm near Burdette, in Hand County in 1937; where they farmed. They moved to Redfield in November of 1996.
Pauline was a member of the Wheaton U.C.C. and was and organist for many years. She was a member of Help One Another club for 60 years. Her hobbies were music, dancing, sewing and knitting. Pauline and Bus enjoyed traveling; they visited most of the states in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe. They spent several winters in Arizona. Bus passed away on April 15, 2000.
Pauline is survived by her daughters, Karen Kurtz of Las Gatos, CA; Shirley and Randy Schultz of Tulare, SD; a son in law, Ross Taylor; five grandchildren,Jim (Ming Ming) Kurtz of Tacoma, WA, Tami (Steve) Jaskiewicz of New York City, NY, Brad (Lesanne) Kurtz, Santa Cruz,CA, Mike Schultz of Sioux Falls, SD and Holly (Mike) Herold of Brookings, SD; seven great-grandchildren and six nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter Sandra Taylor, four brothers; Don, Kenneth, Lewis and Darrel Cotton.
