Pearl Burns, 87, of Redfield, SD, died Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Redfield.

Pearl was cremated and her Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 27 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield. Fr. Christopher Hughes will celebrate the mass.

Pearl Joyce Getman was born April 12, 1926 in Seneca Falls, NY to Peter LaRue and Rosamond Lucille (Warner) Getman. She lived all her life in Seneca Falls-Waterloo New York area. During her lifetime she had done many things outside of raising six children. She also was a devout member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 435 in Waterloo, NY. For many years Pearl took care of the mentally disabled people from the hospital in Newark, NY and Willard State Hospital in Ovid, NY and also cared for veterans from Canandaigua, NY. Pearl and Frank along with many family members moved to SD and the Redfield area in September of 1994 and made it their home since. She and her husband Frank also devoted many hours of service to the Good Samaritan Center in Redfield after moving to Redfield.


Pearl is survived by her husband Frank Burns of Redfield; her six children and one lovely step daughter: Ivan White of Redfield, Nicholas White of Redfield, Alan White of Waterloo, NY, Ronald (Donna) White of Utah, Judson (Robin White) Luffman of Waterloo, NY and Bonnie Luffman White of Doland, SD and Patricia Burns Fish of Aberdeen, SD

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pearls family requests no flowers and wishes donations to be made to St. Bernard's Catholic Church or the Good Samaritan Center in her name.
