Shirley Jean (Stoner) Sanger, 98, of Redfield, SD, passed away Monday, December 13, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society in Miller, SD.
Shirley's son, Randy Gene Sanger, 64, of San Marcos, TX and formerly of Redfield, passed away hours later on December 13 in San Marcos.
Shirley's daughter, Janice Kathaleen (Sanger) Davies, 73, of Redfield, SD passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, SD.
There will be a joint Celebration of Life honoring Shirley and her two children on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the Redfield United Methodist Church in Redfield. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Their service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Melissa Rowenhorst and Jim Hofman officiating.
After the funeral service, military honors will take place outside the church in honor of Randy and his honorable career with the U.S. Navy. There will also be a memorial service for Randy at a later date in Texas where he will be laid to rest.
Interment for Shirley will follow the military honors and a time for refreshments and fellowship at the church. Burial will be at the Rockham Grace Cemetery in Rockham, SD at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Their Celebration of Life service will be live-streamed to the funeral home's website, under their respective obituaries. Streaming will begin at approximately 12:50 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home of Redfield. (www.hykefuneralhome.com)
Randy Gene Sanger was born on December 14, 1956, to Raymond and Shirley (Stoner) Sanger in Redfield, SD. He graduated from Redfield High School and joined the United States Navy. During his career, he served as a Radioman and a Deep Sea Diver. He traveled the world and visited many countries including the Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, New Zealand, Antarctica, and Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, he saw a beautiful face across a crowded room and fell immediately in love. Six months later, they were married on March 26, 1993. He enjoyed running, gardening, traveling, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Zenaida Rabadon Sanger, and his two girls, Beverly Sanger Custodio and Jeanny Ann Sanger.
Randy was preceded in death by his father in 1987. His mother died hours before Randy did, on December 13, 2021.
