Reinhold "Reinie" Dutt, 97, Redfield, SD passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018, at the Eastern Star Home. His Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday November 12, 2018, at the Eastern Star Chapel in Redfield with Reverend Peter M. Utecht officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 12, 2018, at the Eastern Star Chapel from 09:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Family will be present at this time to accept condolences. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home (www.hykefuneralhome.com).
Reinhold Dutt was born in Tolstoy, SD to Jacob Dutt and Frederika (Huber) Dutt on July 7, 1921. Reinhold attended school in Tolstoy and then worked on the family farm.
On June 18, 1944, he married Mildred Hettich in Tolstoy, SD. To this union two children were born, a son Jake and daughter Barb. In 1956, they moved to Anaconda, MT where he worked for the Anaconda Copper Mine. In 1961, they moved to Hoven, SD where he worked for United Building Center. In 1962, they moved to Redfield, SD where he worked for Peavey Lumber Company until his retirement in 1983.
"Reinie" was a hardworking family man of few words. He never missed any family events and was thrilled to watch his great granddaughters race their go-carts. He also enjoyed being a carpenter, building cabinets and helping remodel homes. After his retirement one of his hobbies included walking at least 2 miles per day.
He is survived by his son Jake (Sheila) Dutt, Aberdeen, SD, his daughter Barb Lenling, Redfield, SD, Granddaughter Sherri (Ken) Stahl, Aberdeen, SD, Great Granddaughters Tania (Jeremy) Kalt and Kami (Collin) DeBoer.
"Reinie" is preceded in death by his wife Mildred Dutt in 2009, his parents, his brothers Jacob J. Dutt, John J. Dutt and Edward Dutt, his sisters Frederika Krien, Martha Lassle and Eileen Dutt, three infant siblings and his son-in-law Larry Lenling.
