Richard "Sut" Frericks, 66, of Ashton, SD, died Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield, SD.

His funeral and celebration of life will be Monday, May 21, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Redfield. Reverends Stephen Perry and J. Edwin Coates will officiate.

Burial will be in the Ashton Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Sut was born October 29, 1940 in Northville, SD to Harry and Frieda (Holdorf) Frericks. Sut grew up and has spent most of his life in the Ashton/Athol area. After high school he farmed, worked at the Pierre Missile Base, Oahe Dam and Rude Transportation. Sut married Pat Addison March 9, 1962 in Redfield. After he became paralyzed in an accident in 1977, he started Sut's Seed and Chemical and continued there until retiring in 1998.

Sut was an avid wildlife enthusiast. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends.

Sut is survived by his wife Pat Frericks of Ashton, four sons: Shane Frericks, Shannon (Sandi) Frericks, Shawn (Vonda) Frericks and Stacey (Anne) Frericks and one daughter Sherelle (Henry) Zens all of Ashton. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, two brothers: Verne (Betty) Frericks of Northville, SD and Gary (Ruth) Frericks of Lander, WY; three sisters: Helen Bair of Lake City, SD; Sally (Mike) Sale of Ashton and Judy (Terry) Frost of Ashton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
