Obituary

Richard C. Mueller, 75, of Redfield, SD died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 10th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield. Father William Osborn will celebrate the mass. Burial will be in the St. Bernard's Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1-8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 5:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home. www.thelenfuneralhome.com In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Dick was born April 20, 1935 in Tyler, MN to Carl and Bertha (Winz) Mueller. He grew up in the Elkton, SD area and moved, with his family, to Redfield as a young man. He attended school in Redfield before entering the United States Army. He served in the Army, overseas in Germany, from 1958-1960. After his discharge Dick married Joan Grohs on June 4, 1960 in Redfield. He worked for Adam Bower Construction for a few years before buying the business. They specialized in road construction and gravel hauling.

Dick was a Redfield City Councilman for six years and a Spink County Commissioner for twelve years. He enjoyed restoring Stationary engines. Dick's favorite time of the day was early morning and he was often driving around Redfield before the sun came up. He died at his favorite time of the day-5:00 a.m.

Dick is survived by his wife Joan of Redfield, his brother John of Danbury, WI; and his sister Maxine (Archie) Taxdahl of Prior Lake, MN and many nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by parents, two sisters and brothers-in-law: Marie and Arnold Wiskur and Louise and Joe Wiskur and his sister-in-law Rosalie Mueller.
