Robert P. Dix, 88, of Redfield, SD, died Monday, June 11, 2012 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, June 15, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield. Father Christopher Hughes will celebrate the mass.
After a time for lunch and fellowship, the burial will be in St John's Cemetery in Conde, SD, with military rites.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com
Bob was born May 30, 1924 in Conde to Joseph and Ethel (Klapperich) Dix. He graduated from Turton High School in 1942. He served in the United States Army from 1945-1946. After his discharge, he returned to South Dakota and graduated from South Dakota State University, in 1953, with a degree in agriculture. Bob worked as a carpenter, from Redfield to Groton, mostly in the Doland, Turton and Conde area. He made his home, most of his adult life, with Casper and Martha Dix. Bob moved to Redfield in 2001.
He enjoyed bowling, hunting and playing cards.
Bob was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Conde American Legion.
Bob is survived by his brothers and sisters: Paul (Theresa) Dix of Georgetown, TX; and Ferdinand (Martha) Dix of Longview, TX; Julia Edwards of Hermitage, MO; Gwendolyn Schunk of Casa Grande, AZ; Yvonne (Lawrence) Schippers of Valley Center, KS; Rose Pepperd of Wichita, KS; and Dianne Schneider of Wichita, KS. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers: Richard and Joseph, two brothers: Edward and Earl and one sister Donna.
