Robert "Bob" Donald Baloun, 73, of Redfield, SD passed away Friday, November 17, 2017 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield.  Reverend Tom Anderson will officiate.  Interment will follow at St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Redfield.

Visitation will be Monday, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield.  A Prayer Service with Rosary will follow at 6:00 p.m.  Family will be present beginning at 5:00 p.m. to accept condolences.  Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.  (www.thelen-hykefuneralhome.com)

Robert "Bob" Donald Baloun was born May 27, 1944 in Faulkton, SD to Donald and Roberta (McQuown) Baloun.  He attended Faulkton School, Redfield Public School and Northern State University.  In June of 1965, he married Sherry Groft and two children were born to this union, Robert (Robi) and Ashli.

Bob and Sherry owned and operated the Carpet Store and the Corner Pocket Recreation Center as well as Bob's Laundry Mat in Redfield for many years.  He also had rental property and raised some cattle.

In 1995, the family moved to the edge of town where he enjoyed the little hobby farm he and Sherry created.  He loved being outside taking care of the cattle, pigs and horses.  Most of all, he loved spending every minute he could with his grandchildren and his dog, Jake.  One thing you could always count on when you saw Bob was a clean pickup!  He always enjoyed detailing his vehicles and making sure they looked nice.  And anywhere he went, he carried pictures of his kids and grandchildren.  He absolutely loved showing them off to everyone he ran into.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sherry; his son, Robert Baloun of Redfield and children:  Baylee Blake, Stetson, Justice and Riggin Baloun; his daughter, Ashli (Dustin) Miller of Mina, SD and children:  Paige Maher, Makenna, Jerzi, Chance and Asher Miller; his daughter, Destinie Harford and grandson, Xander.  He is also survived by his brother, Jim (Betty) Baloun; his sister, Donna Woodring; his uncle, Buster (Joyce) McQuown; his aunt, Deloris Eaton; his mother-in-law, Alice Groft; his siblings-in-law:  Glen & Amy Watson, Dave & Rose Hazelhorst, John & Pat Groft, and Jim & Carol Groft and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Roberta Baloun; his brother, Bill Baloun; his brother-in-law, Clint Woodring; his father-in-law, John Groft and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
