Robert "Bob" Earl Therkildsen, 95, of Redfield, SD, died Thursday, June 16, 2016, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 20, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in Redfield. Reverend Marty Toepke-Floyd will officiate. Bob's wishes were to be cremated; his family will accept condolences one hour prior to service at the church. Following a time of lunch and fellowship, Bob's ashes will be buried in the Rockham Cemetery. Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. www.thelenhykefuneralhome.com

Robert was born to Hans and Lillie (Buss) Therkildsen at their farm northwest of Rockham, SD on March 14, 1921. Bob attended rural school in Faulk County and graduated from Rockham High School in 1939.

Bob married Myrn Brueggemann on September 4, 1944. Bob was a farmer in the Rockham area from 1946 to 1977. He worked at the Co-op Elevator in Rockham until his retirement. Bob and Myrn enjoyed square dancing as well as playing dominoes and various card games. He liked playing horseshoes and watching baseball.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Myrn; three sisters-in-law, Floy Conkey of St. Lawrence, SD, Fran and Pat Therkildsen of Kalamazoo, MI; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gene and Jim.

Memorials can be directed to the Rockham Grace Cemetery or the Eastern Star Home.
