Obituary

Robinson "Robin" Stucker Spear, 81, of Sun City West, AZ, passed away at home peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, March 4, 2018.  Family will have a celebration of life at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Redfield, SD.  Reverend Peter M. Utecht will officiate.  Burial, with military honors, will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield.   Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD has been entrusted with arrangements. Robinson "Robin" Stucker Spear was born to Albert and Bonnie (Stucker) Spear on December 15, 1936 in Redfield, SD.  He grew up on a farm near Turton, SD with his two brothers, Carroll and Skipper, and six sisters:  Mickey, Jean, Shirley, Bonnie Lou, Judy and Sue plus one cousin, Connie, and his Grandma Spear.  Rob went to a country school and graduated from the SD St. College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts in 1956.

Rob joined the U.S. Army in October 1957 and trained as a vehicle mechanic in the 583rd Trans. Co.  Rob's Company traveled to Germany, France, Iran, Iraq and Lebanon.

Rob met Karon Neu and they were married on December 27, 1957.  They had four girls together:  Dawn, Denice, Diane and Brenda.

Rob was in the feed and elevator business for a number of years and then worked for Lystad Pest Control for 35 years until starting his own pest control business in Amarillo, TX.  Upon selling his business, they moved back to South Dakota where he worked for the DOC as a correction officer until retirement.

Rob was a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church and served in different offices.  He was treasurer of GEP Grain Organization.

He enjoyed spending time with family, camping and visiting family and friends.  He also liked to hunt and fish.

Rob is survived by his wife, Karon of Sun City West, AZ; his daughters:  Dawn (Mike) Vourazeris of Surprise, AZ; Denice (Bob) Paden of Hooker, OK; Diane (Tom) Stein of Underwood, IA and Brenda Spear of Surprise, AZ.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren; one step-grandson; nine great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and three sisters:  Bonnie Lou (Ken) Burtch of Sulpher Springs, TX; Judy (Merlin) Newman of Aberdeen, SD; and Sue (Charlie) Esser of Reno, NV.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brothers, Carroll and Skipper; and sisters:  Mickey, Jeannie and Shirley.

In lieu of flowers, gift donations will be sent to the Operation Black Hills Cabin in Custer, SD.
