Roger William Masat, 90, of Redfield, SD, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Eastern Star Home in Redfield.

Visitation, with family present, will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. A prayer service and time of sharing will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Roger’s funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 17, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Redfield. Pastors Joy Proper and Adrian Timmons will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. After the committal service, lunch will be served in the church hall.

Roger was born at the farm home on April 28, 1936, to William and Hazel (Brink) Masat. He attended a one-room country school through 8th grade and graduated from Redfield High School in 1955. He enlisted in the National Guard and served 8 years.

He and his high school sweetheart, Pauline Jensen, married in 1956. To this union, 3 children were born: Steve, Donald, and Paula. Farming was his lifetime career. He was a lifetime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and served in several positions on its council, also serving for many years as Lodi Township Treasurer.

His hobbies included pheasant hunts with relatives, and in the last 30 years he became an enthusiastic Farmall IH collector and restorer. With that, he met and became friends with many like-minded “red tractor” people.

Just prior to their 50th wedding anniversary in 2006, Pauline passed away, leaving him and their 3 kids, and by then, 10 grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with the grandkids, which could include a bit of aggravating in his “itchy” way.

He and Lois were married in 2013. They did some traveling and also went to a lot of tractor shows as part of the Chapter 21 IH Collectors Club.

Roger is survived by his wife Lois and her family; his children: Steve (Caroline) Masat of Redfield and their children: Tim (Vianne) Masat and their children Claire, Haddie, and Sadie; Garrett (Bailey) Masat and their daughter Miley; and Ashley Masat; Don (Rita) Masat of Redfield and their children: Tyler (Taylor) Masat and their son Brooks; Alan (fiancé Samantha) Masat; and Drew Masat; Paula (Scott) Hamilton of Hitchcock, SD, and their children: Nicole (Andrew) Roth and their daughter Rachel; April (James) Bowar and their twin daughters Anna and Teresa; Grant (Jaidyn) Hamilton; and Kyle Hamilton; a brother Wilbur Masat; a sister Beverly Wagner; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; a brother-in-law, Tom Wagner; and a sister-in-law, Judy Masat.
