Ronald Crook, 68, of Redfield, SD, died Monday, December 2, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Redfield with his sister at his side.

His funeral will be Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield, with Reverend Stephen Perry officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Frankfort, SD.

Ronald Crook was born at Redfield on December 14, 1944 to Roland and Vera (Wiles) Crook. He attended Frankfort Rural Country School for grades 1-7, and then Doland Public School Grades 8-12. He lived and farmed with parents near Frankfort South Dakota until 1995, when he moved to Redfield, SD. In February of 2007, He became a residence at Golden Living Center in Redfield, SD.

He enjoyed watching TV, reading, listening to music and when he was able, walking. In grade school he took lessons to learn to play the accordion. He had a sweet tooth for black licorice and often asked visitors if they had any licorice.

Ronnie was given a heavy burden to carry all his life, one that could be frustrating and painful for him at certain times. He always had the love and support from his parents when they were alive. After their passing he had continued support from his sister and brother and the nurses and employees at the Golden Living Center.

He is survived by his brother Gary (Donna Johnson) of Bryant, SD; his sister Dee Anna (Danny) Lake, of Aberdeen, SD; his nephews: Lamont (Erica) Crook, a great niece, Viviene Crook of Salt Lake City, UT; Troy Crook of Crystal, MN, Lance (Michelle) Lake, and great nieces Alexis and Madison Lake of Ozark, MI, his niece, Angela Hanson, great nephew Derrick, great niece Desirae Hanson, all of Rapid City, SD; and five aunts and two uncles.

Ronnie was reunited with his loving parents; Rollie and Vera; and his grandparents.
