Ronald was born December 10, 1947 in Clark, SD. He was the first of four children born to Charles and Deloris (Ragels) Williamson. Ronald was raised and educated in the Doland area and then Ron's family lived in LaDelle from 1959 to 1966 because his father worked for the Spink County Highway Department. During the summers, Ron worked for local farmers, did construction work and raised his own registered Durox pigs. After surviving a serious illness, he graduated from Doland High School in 1966. He attended Watertown Business School where he took accounting courses after graduation.
On August 20, 1967 he married Charlotte Marie Harvey and together they made their home in Doland. In 1968, he began his work for the South Dakota Department of Transportation Maintenance in Doland. The Doland shop was closed in 1985 and he began to work out of the Redfield DOT Office where he became foreman after several years. In 1995, Ron moved to Redfield with his wife Charlotte and their beloved pet cat Preston. At that time, Ron became an area maintenance supervisor for Miller and Highmore and the state highways from Ft. Thompson to Conde. Ron always said his employees were the best and he would put them up against any other group. After working for the DOT for 42 years, he retired in 2010 to spend more time with his wife. Ron and Charlotte liked to camp and fish. He also enjoyed sports, especially car races and the Denver Broncos. He also enjoyed visiting with friends whether they were friends from work or people he had met through the years. The thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his son working on his son's classic cars.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte of Redfield, SD; son Kevin David of Lawrence, KS; two brothers: Melvin (Lynette) of Doland, SD; Bruce of Watertown, SD; four nephews all of Watertown, SD: Troy (Valerie) and their children Kelsey, Skylar, Devin, Zachery Burgher; Chad; Chris and his son Reznor; Jamie and his daughters McKayla, McKenzie and Shaylie; one very special niece, Jodie of Watertown, SD; brother-in-law Douglas Harvey of Clark, SD; aunt Hattie (Ragels) Sheldon of Spearfish, SD and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Constance (Connie) Kay Burgher Farris.
