Rosalie Mae Wandell was born January 12, 1926 to Wesley and Lenora (Wetzbarger) Wandell in Frankfort, SD. She attended school in Doland, SD until traveling to Beeville, TX at age 17 to care for her sister Ruth. Shortly after her return to Frankfort, she went to work for Ada Mason, who would become her mother-in-law on September 19, 1944 when she married Eugene Mason. Eugene and Rosalie had a son, Zane and two daughters, Marcia and Linda.
Rosalie was a housewife for many years, devoting her time to her family, church and farm life. She was a fantastic cook and for several seasons she hosted and cooked amazing meals for the multitude of pheasant hunters that lodged in her home. She loved to sew and spent endless hours sewing clothes for herself and her daughters. She also did embroidery and crocheted. Many of these talents, especially sewing and cooking were shared with her daughters. When her children were all in school, Rosalie went to work outside the home; first as a sales associate at Stacey Drug and then as a nursing assistant at Community Memorial Hospital. Rosalie moved to Rochester, MN to be near her grandchildren. In Rochester, she found work as a sales associate, but later found her calling helping others as a home health aide at Shamrock In-Home Nursing Care. Upon her retirement from Shamrock, she returned to her home and family in Redfield. At this time, Rosalie committed her time and talents to the Redfield Methodist Church, quilting and baking for fundraisers.
She is survived by her son Zane (Brenda) Mason, Frankfort; her daughters Marcia Mason-Wilson of Coalinga, CA and Linda (Jeff) Ripley, Clovis, CA; seven grandchildren: Kelli, Don, Christopher, Kenny, David, Stephanie, and Adam; fifteen great-grandchildren: Judy, Sawyer, Brandon, Alyssa, Kendra, Kailey, Tyler, Connor, Nathan, Sophia, Alexander, Madison, Phoebe ,Nolan, and Sena; and two great-great grandchildren: Michael and Annabel. She is also survived by her two sisters Marjorie Stoltz and Lenora Shult, both of Redfield.
She was preceded in death by sisters: Mary Shantz and Ruth Severson; brothers: Herbert, Glen, and Allen Wandell; and granddaughter Alicia Vale Johnson.
