Russell L. Anderson, 84, of Tulare, SD, died Friday, April 15, 2011 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. His funeral will be Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Redfield. After a time for fellowship and lunch the burial will be in the Burdette Cemetery. Russell was born June 2, 1926 in rural Tulare to Archie E. and Hertha (Nielsen) Anderson. He grew up in the Tulare area and attended country school. He graduated from Plainview Academy High School and attended Union College in Lincoln, NE. Russell married Cleo Speh on January 12, 1950 in Alcester, SD. They farmed west of Tulare, in the Burdette area, all his life. Russell was a Dekalb Seed dealer for many years.

He enjoyed woodworking and pheasant hunting.

Russell was very active in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He served as an elder and had a prominent part in building the new church. He also distributed fruit for the church.

Russell is survived by his wife Cleo of Tulare, six children: Randall Lee (Vickee) Anderson of Pierre, SD; and their children: Ross Lloyd (Danielle), and Sara; Rock Leigh Anderson of Loveland, CO; and his children: Chad(Amy) and Chauncey; Candyce (Randal) Werth of Lidgerwood, ND; Reginald Lynn Anderson of Greeley, CO; and his son, Dylan; Reed Lamont (Tamara) Anderson of Canaan, NH; and their children: Emily, Sarah and Abigail; and Ryan Lamar Anderson of Redfield; and Ross and Danielle's daughter, Mackennzie, who is Russell's only great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Merlin Lloyd and his daughter-in-law Kathleen Anderson.
