Russell Dale Sheridan, 66, of Redfield SD, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at his home in Redfield. Russell was cremated and his memorial service will be Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Chaplain Romelle Fortin will officiate. Russell Dale Sheridan was born September 2, 1945 in Redfield, SD to Robert and Daisy (DeYoung) Sheridan. He graduated from Brentford High School in 1963. He lived and worked on the family farm in the Ashton area breaking horses until October 12, 1965 when he married Shirley Fortin. Russ went to work for Northwestern Public Service for 13 years, spending 7 years in Grand Island, NE. In 1983, Russ starting selling insurance for Farm Bureau and continued for over twenty-five years.

His hobbies included: hunting, making custom-made hunting knifes, jewelry and wood carvings.

Russell is survived by his wife Shirley of Redfield, SD; his son Quintin (Dawn) Sheridan of Wolsey and children: Aaron Sheridan, Vanessa Sheridan and her children: Dayton and Mya, Shawn Sheridan and Austin Sheridan; his daughter Robin (Brian) Baarts of Huron, SD and children: Ashley Baarts and her children Ahriana and Avandre; and Casey Baarts. He is also survived by his sister Alta (James) Smith of Brentford, SD and his brother Delvin (Barb) Sheridan of Ashton, SD and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Daisy Sheridan.
