Ruth Virginia Mannie, 85, of Redfield, SD, died Wednesday, March 06, 2013 at Eastern Star Home in Redfield. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield. Father Christopher Hughes will celebrate the mass. After a time for lunch and fellowship, the burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen. Ruth Virginia was born September 6, 1927, to Tom and Esther (Johnson) Haney in Aberdeen, SD. Ruth received her teacher's certificate from Northern Teacher's College in Aberdeen, and worked as a teacher in several country schools. Ruth married Robert Allen Eppard on January 21, 1950. Ruth enjoyed sewing, quilting, needlepoint, reading and dancing, dancing and dancing. No matter where she was on Sunday, she needed to get home to watch Lawrence Welk. She loved Dairy Queen's root beer floats, banana splits and DQ blizzards or anything with ice-cream. Ruth's family and friends will always remember her for her caramel-cinnamon rolls. Ruth married Marvin Mannie on December 30, 1993. Ruth was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband Marvin Mannie of Redfield, her six daughters: Julie (Lance) Fuhrman of Mellette, SD; Cindy (Terry) Akin of Mellette, SD; Peggy (Duane) Zimmerman of Lake Havasu, AZ; Laura (Steve) Mogck of Parkston, SD; Sue (Alex) Wilson of Ada, OK; Barb (Tim) Muellenberg of Bloomington, IL. Ruth is also survived by her three sons: Bill (Cassie) Eppard of Aberdeen, SD; Dan (Nicki) Eppard of Cottage Grove, MN and Doug (Julie) Eppard of Presho, SD; 38 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson Jason Carsten and two sisters: Phyllis Spear and Madalyn Stoltenberg.
