Selma F. Parsons, 82, of Rapid City, SD, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Her funeral will be Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Luze Funeral Home in Highmore, SD. Reverend Tim Fugman will officiate. Burial will be in the Highmore Cemetery at a later date. Selma Fern was born March 13, 1929 to Lars and Bertha (Westhauser) Runestad on the family farm south of Highmore. She married Everett Parsons and to this union two sons, David and Harley, were born. Selma and her family moved to Montana in 1955 where she was employed at St. Pat's Hospital. She later moved to Rapid City where she was employed at Rapid City Regional Hospital for twenty-five years until she retired. After her retirement, she was a dedicated volunteer at the hospital.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was an avid Elvis Presley fan and also volunteered at the Senior Center.

Selma is survived by her sons: David Parsons of Denver, CO and Harley (Jean) Parsons of Denver, Co; her granddaughter Rae Jean and her great granddaughters Samantha and Alexis. She is also survived by her sisters: Bernice (Robert) Schlegel of Redfield; and Lou Rediger of Miller, SD; and her brother Les (Ellen) Runestad of Venice, FL, many nieces and nephews and her special neighbor Stacey and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters: Hannah Runestad and Violet Kutz and her brothers: Lyle, Glen and Arnold Runestad, her brother-in-law Dale Rediger, her sister-in-law Barbara Runestad, nephews Gary Schlegel and JR Schlegel and her niece Patricia Hayes.
