Obituary

Sheila A. Hausvik, 81, of Turton, died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Avera McKennan Hosptial in Sioux Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 30, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Turton. Father Mike Kelly will celebrate the mass. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Conde. Visitation will be Thursday from 1-5:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the church. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Sheila was born September 14, 1933 in Clark County, SD to Steve and Christena "Tena" (King) Heath. She married Rodney Hausvik on April 30, 1954. They lived in Turton and Deadwood for a short time, before starting farming near Turton. Sheila taught school in Crandall and country school. She worked as a bailiff at the Brown County Courthouse before starting work for the United States Postal Service in Turton. She served as Postmaster, for many years, retiring in 2006.

Sheila enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and camping. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, Facebook and "words" with friends.

Her biggest joy was her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to play cards with her grandchildren.

Sheila is survived by her husband, of sixty years, Rodney of Turton; her sons: Mike (Donna) of Conde; and Alan of Turton; her daughters: Kristi (Dan) Elbers of Forest Lake, MN; Patti (Brent) Schneider of Turton and Shelli (Ryan) Felderman of Brandon, SD. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her brother Pat (Jean) Heath of Aberdeen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son John, her sisters: Mary Bailey, Rose Marie Jacobsen.
