Born on May 8, 1940, to Leon and Mamie (Albrecht) Osborn, he joined brother F. James Osborn.  Sheldon lived a life marked by hard work, family devotion, and a deep love for community and sports.

A proud graduate of Redfield Public High School, Class of 1958, Sheldon continued his education at Augustana College and Huron College before returning home to begin working at Harry's Egg Station. Then he met the love of his life, Sharon Robinson. They were married on October 19, 1968, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Frankfort. He later worked at Redfield Sales and ultimately found his calling as a full-time farmer. Alongside farming, he served as a rural route mail carrier for the United States Postal Service until his retirement. Even after stepping away from the Postal Service, Sheldon remained dedicated to farming until 2017.

Sheldon had a passion for the outdoors and competition. He was a talented fast pitch softball player, an avid hunter, and enjoyed spending time with friends playing cards at Chrystal's Palace. But above all else, his greatest joy came from following the athletic journeys of his children and grandchildren. He never missed a Dairy Queen amateur baseball game when his four boys played and was their most loyal supporter in all their endeavors.

Sheldon was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Mamie Osborn and granddaughter, Nikki Kluver. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon (Robinson) Osborn, and their children: Richard and Della Osborn (Redfield), Wendy and Wayne Kluver (Watertown), Brent and Michelle Osborn (Redfield), Joel Osborn (Redfield), Chris and Heather Osborn (Aberdeen), and Nicole and Tim Yseth (Brookings).

He also leaves behind a cherished legacy through his grandchildren: Casey (Cassie) Kluver, Shelby (Christopher White), Tanner, Braeden, and Allison Kluver (Chase Petersen); Bennett, Owen, Peyton, and Camden Osborn (Ava Greenway); Jace and Bode Osborn; Leo and Ruby Yseth and Taylor (Dane) Hegdahl and Regan Yseth; and Lucas and Mamie Osborn, Josie (Kole) DeSpiegler, and Gracie Whitley (Peyton Johnson), and great-grandchildren Graham and Ivy DeSpiegler. He also is survived by his brother F. James (Mary Ann) Osborn.

Sheldon will be remembered for his steady presence, infectious smile, and unwavering support of those he loved. His memory will live on in the fields he worked, the games he cheered at, and the hearts of all who knew him.
