Shirley Marie Hormann, 70, of Redfield, SD, died Thursday, February 8, 2007 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 12, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield. Father William Osborn will celebrate the mass. A private burial will be in the St. Bernard's Cemetery in Redfield.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8:00 p.m. with a Christian Wake Service and Rosary, Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Shirley's family will be present to accept condolences from 6-7 p.m.

Shirley was born May 28, 1936, to Bernard and Mathilda (Stemper) Zens at Zell, SD. She attended St. Mary's Catholic school in Zell and Redfield Public School. Shirley married Lyle Hormann in Redfield on November 15, 1954. Shirley was employed by various employers throughout the next fifty years. She was a member of the St. Bernard's Catholic Church altar society and the American Legion Auxiliary. Shirley was a Foster Grandparent at the Redfield Public School and touched the lives of many children that will miss her dearly. She kept herself busy sewing, gardening, baking, and spending time with her own grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Lyle of Redfield, SD; two daughters and son-in-laws, Wanda and Douglas Hamilton of Groton, SD, their children Dulcy (Larry) Wipf, Stephanie Hamilton, and Brad Hamilton; and Carol and Randy Maddox of Redfield, SD; and their children Jessica (Brandon) Anderson, Justin Kissner and Emily Maddox; one son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Ramona Hormann of Forest Grove, OR; and their children, Samantha Hormann, Jennifer Hormann and Christopher Hormann; three sisters Darlene Luttrell, Rosemary Nowell and Dorothy (Dale) Connor; and one great grandson Alex Wipf. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Robert, and two brothers.
