Shirley Lou (Schaeffer) Kritz Johnson, 91, of Doland, SD, passed away Friday, June 14, 2024, at Avantara Redfield in Redfield, SD.   Following Shirley's wishes, she will be cremated and there will be no formal services.  She will be laid to rest privately at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield.

Shirley was born in Doland on August 28, 1932, to Oscar and Ruth (Macer) Schaeffer.  She was their only child.  She attended school in Doland and graduated from high school in 1950.  Shirley married Francis Kritz in November of 1948 in Montevideo, MN.  To this union, Dale Leroy Kritz was born.  On October 2, 1956, she married Ronald Johnson in Redfield.

For 18 years, Shirley worked as a teller at Security State Bank in Doland.  She was then employed by Redfield Equipment in Redfield as a bookkeeper for 34 years.

Shirley was a proud lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary.  She loved knitting, reading, and playing cards.

She is survived by three grandchildren:  Nicole, Erik, and Lexi; four great-grandchildren; and several cousins.  Preceding her in death were her parents, husbands, and son.
