Shirley May Leinen, 93, Redfield, SD, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Redfield. Her wishes were to be cremated. A private ceremony will be held at a later date. Shirley was born on May 17, 1923 in Ashton, SD to William "Chub" and Mary (Turner) Lunney. She graduated from Ashton High School. She married Lyle Leinen and to this union Jeff, Mike, Kathi, Tom and Kristi were born.

Shirley enjoyed raising her children and being involved in their activities. She was a great cook and could always be found in the kitchen cooking something good. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children: Mike (Carol) Leinen and Kristi Mills; daughters-in-law: Alta Leinen and Carol Leinen; sister-in-law Rita Lunney; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle; brother Ben Lunney; sons: Jeff and Tom; daughter Kathi and son-in-law Richard Mills.
