Obituary

Steven A. "Lefty" Wright, 42, of Huron, SD and formerly of Redfield, SD, died Friday, May 6, 2011, at Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen, SD of cancer. His funeral will be Monday, May 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield. Father William Osborn will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8:00 p.m. with a time for remembrance and prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Steve was born April 18, 1969 in Redfield to Gerald and Nancy (Ayers) Wright. He grew up in Redfield and graduated from Redfield High School in 1987. He served in the National Guard from 1986-1990. Steve worked for South Dakota Wheat Growers as an Applicator, Redfield Energy as a Shift Leader and currently at Wilbur Ellis as the Midwest Area Director of Operations.

Steve enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Steve enjoyed attending the many events that his nephew and nieces participated in. He took great pride in his work and looked forward to summers when farmers could get out in the fields. Lefty's greatest joy was his Harley Davidson motorcycle, he and his buddies had ridden to many destinations and he always looked forward to the next trip.

Steve is survived by his mother Nancy of Redfield, his brothers: Doug of Redfield and Kenny of Aberdeen; his sisters: Carol (Tom) Lambert and her children: Brady, Lauryn and Bridgette Lambert of Redfield and Kourtney Wright of Moorhead, MN and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father Gerald in 1995, maternal grandparents WC and Emma Ayers, paternal grandparents Lawrence and Arlene Wright, uncles Roger and Kenneth Wright and Jerry Ayers.
