Ted C. Genzler, 79, of Faulkton, SD, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Faulkton Healthcare Center.
Funeral Services will be will be Friday, January 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Pastor Koch will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.at Thelen Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Tulare Cemetery in Tulare, SD. with a lunch and fellowship to follow at the Tulare United Church. www.thelenfuneralhome.com
Theodore Charles Genzler was born August 18, 1935, on the family farm near Hitchcock, SD to Alvin and Berta (Eldeen) Genzler. He attended school at the Blume and then the Crandon country schools through the eighth grade. Ted enlisted in the United States Marines in 1953 and served until 1956 After he was honorable discharged he moved back to the family farm one mile north and 1 mile east of Tulare and worked with his family until 1970. In 1957, he married Ann Carr and to this union four children were born: George, Don, Alvin and Helen.
Ted owned and operated several different businesses in Redfield, prior to moving to Zell and raising pigs. He married Janet Carr in 1977 and to this union two children were born: Missy and T.J. In 1996, he purchased a business in Chelsea, SD which he operated until he retired in 2005.
He is survived by his children: George (Donna) of Chelsea, Don (Darlene) of Redfield, Alvin of Tulare, Helen (Gary) Whitley of Redfield, Missy Genzler of Redfield, T.J. (Cindy) of Sioux Falls and a step daughter Rhonda Schultz. He is also survived by two brothers: Bob and Glen and one sister: Florence Hinks; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents; his brother George and his sister Lilly Ward. He was also preceded in death by his daughter in law, Sue Genzler and a step son Tim Fountain along with several nieces, nephews and uncles, along with a special friend Jaxon Sehnert.
