Vera Carlson, 61, of Redfield, SD died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron. Her funeral will be Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Redfield. Reverend Dean Manning will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield.

Vera was born July 30, 1945 in Miller, SD to Vere and Daisy (Williams) Lowther. She grew up in the Miller area and graduated from Miller High School in 1963. Vera married Ted Gross July 1, 1966 and they lived in the Doland area for twenty years. She worked at West Park in Huron for several years. After moving to Redfield she worked for Golden Living Center and Eastern Star Home. She married Bill Carlson on March 30, 1999 in Redfield.

Vera was active in Christian Women and church activities. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially following her grandson Travis. She also collected bears.


Vera is survived by her husband Bill of Redfield, two daughters: Char (Mike) Hvidsten and grandson Travis of Frankfort, SD; and Dar (Rick Andresen) Gross of Faulkton, SD, three step sons: Corey (Dorothy) Carlson and their children Kolton and Kaylee of Aberdeen, SD; Bob (Tina) Carlson and their son Riley of Sioux Falls, SD; and John (Dawn) Carlson and their daughter Dakotah of Aberdeen, SD. Vera is also survived by three brothers Charles Lowther and Bob Lowther of Redfield and Jack (Margie) Lowther of Hanahan, SC.


Vera was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
