Vera M. Price, 93, of Tulare, SD, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell, SD.

Her funeral will be Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tulare United Church in Tulare. Pastor Lorah Houser Jankord will officiate.

Burial will be in Garfield Cemetery near Tulare. Visitation will be Friday from 2:30-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield.

Vera was born August 18, 1918 in Wolsey, SD to Oliver and Emma (Olson) Radcliffe. She attended Sand Creek Country School in rural Wessington. Her family moved to Tulare while Vera was in the eighth grade. Vera graduated from Tulare High School in 1935 and attended Wessington Springs Junior College. She taught Elementary school at the Tipton Country School for a year before attending Dakota Wesleyan University. She received her Teaching Certificate from DWU. Vera married Melvin Price on September 26, 1940 in Watertown and they lived on the family farm near Tulare. Vera raised their family on the farm and was active in the church. Melvin died in 2008 and she later moved to Huron.

She was a member of the Tulare United Church and Women's Group and was active in the choir and taught Sunday school.

Vera was a member of Farm Bureau and taught 4-H.

She enjoyed playing scrabble, reading, cross word puzzles, and was an avid letter writer.

Vera is survived by her children: Donald (Jan) Price of Huron, SD; Dale (Sandra) Price of Marquette, NE; Roger (Jeri) Price of Plumas Lake, CA; and Delores (Richard) Gould of Mitchell, SD and twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers: Ben (Del) Radcliffe of Huron and William (Barbara) Radcliffe of Lake Havasu City, AZ and her sister Ruth MacNeill of Weslaco, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers: Amos and Max.
