Obituary

Wallace "Wally" Muellenberg, 90, of Redfield, SD, died April 15, 2012 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. His memorial service will be Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at First Congregational UCC Church in Redfield. Reverend Tim Fugman will officiate. Wally's wishes were to be cremated, his ashes will be buried in Greenlawn Cemetery at a later date. (www.thelenfuneralhome.com)

Wally was born on October 3, 1921, in Zell, SD, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Eschenbaum) Muellenberg. He attended elementary country school and graduated from Redfield High School in 1939. In 1942, he went to Kaiser Shipyards in Portland, OR to work as a welder, then came back to SD to farm.
On October 21, 1950, Wally married Eileen Johnson and they had three sons.
Wally played baseball and was an avid Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings fan. He followed the Redfield Dairy Queen amateur baseball team and enjoyed playing cards and checkers. Wally was well known as an avid trapper enjoyed trapping most of his life.

Grateful for having shared Wally's life are his wife Eileen of Redfield; his three sons: Michael of Aberdeen, SD; Daryl of Maplewood, MN and his son Tony (Sarah); and Gary (Mary) of Maple Grove, MN and their sons Ross and Thomas (Rochelle); his great-grandson Ace; his brothers: Gordon and Dale (Diane) both of Redfield; his sister-in-law Helen Muellenberg of Redfield and nieces and nephews.

Wally was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Lavern, Donald, Richard and his grandson Troy Muellenberg.
