Wesley grew up on a farm near Tulare. He married Emilie in 1942 and farmed all their married lives on a farm close to where he was born.
At a young age, Wes gave his life to Christ and was faithful to that commitment all his life. He was raised in the Methodist Church, and was also a part of the Tulare and Redfield Baptist Churches until his death. He and Emilie raised their family to have faith in God and to live to serve Him and others.

Wes enjoyed hunting and working with animals. He was truly a jack-of-all-trades and master of many. He was a farmer at heart, but particularly enjoyed his years raising Registered Polled Hereford Bulls. He was a real old-time farmer. In the words of Joe Putnam, "Wes was an old-fashioned farmer. If something needed fixing or needed to be done, he did it himself; he didn't send it out. That's what I call a REAL farmer."

Wesley loved sports. He played softball, volleyball, tennis (which he didn't take up until he moved to town), and horseshoes for many years.
Wesley sang high tenor, and loved singing in the Tulare Men's Quartet most of his life. Even after 90 years, he still had that amazing voice and delighted those who heard him sing.
In retirement, Wes enjoyed woodworking, making gifts for his children, grandchildren and many friends. He loved playing chess and spent countless hours playing Rook with Grandchildren and other family members. Wes also enjoyed nature, gardening and his flowers, particularly his hollyhocks and peonies.

He leaves behind many to mourn his passing and joyfully remember his life. These include son Theodore (Michelle) Price of Tulare, SD; daughters: Susan (Glenn) Hines of Carpenter, SD; Nancy (Lowell) Hofer of Newton, KS; Georganne (Jim) Marable of Rio Rancho, NM; Julia (Darrell) Driskell of Hudson, CO; Rebecca (Mervin) Driskell of Tulare, SD; and Cathryn (Clinton) Paulson of Huron, SD. He is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Emilie, parents, four brothers, one sister, four sons, John, David, Sidney, and Joe, and daughter-in-law, Barbara.
