Wesley Wipf, 92, of Doland, SD, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024.
His services will take place on Wednesday, May 22, at Prairie Bible Church in Carpenter, SD. Visitation will be from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. His funeral service will start at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Underkofler officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at the church (Hutterthal Mennonite Church) cemetery.

Wesley Wipf was born on February 14, 1932, to Paul E. and Suzie (Decker) Wipf on a farm near Carpenter and grew up there with his four brothers. He attended grade school at the Live Wire Country School near Carpenter and later received his GED.
Wesley accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at a revival meeting with Pastor Elbert Ewert at Emmanuel Church in May 1948. He was baptized on May 29, 1949, at Prairie Bible Church (Hutterthal Mennonite Church), Carpenter.
He was married to Rowena Tschetter on August 25, 1959, by brother Elbert P. Wipf, at Pioneer Hall in Freeman, SD.
In December of 1953, he was called to serve his country in the U.S. Army. He faithfully served in the European Theater in Germany. He was honorably discharged in November 1955.
Through his working years, he farmed and worked in road construction with his brother Ervin and son Monty. He was the owner operator of his own truck and trailer, taking him to work on many roads across South Dakota.
Daily, Wesley and Rowena would have devotions and prayer for the family. Wesley enjoyed having many "good times" with the family at parks in the Black Hills and at home in the yard.
He was preceded in death by his parents Paul E. and Suzie Wipf; sisters-in-law: Emma Wipf, Margaret Wipf, and Phyllis Wipf; and one niece Arla Kleinsasser.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 64 years, Rowena Wipf of Doland, SD; five children: Monty (Shelly) Wipf of Doland, SD, Corwyn (Sarah) Wipf of Rapid City, SD, Corinna (Allen) Price of Cheyenne, WY, Colette Wipf of Watertown, SD, and Colin (Jessica) Wipf of Milford, IA; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers: Elbert, Willard, Willis (Shirley), and Ervin; and several nieces and nephews.
