Obituary

William Frost St. Clair, 86, of Tulare, South Dakota, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield, South Dakota.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 10, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield.  The family will be present to accept condolences.  A prayer service and time of sharing will begin at 7:00 p.m.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wolsey, South Dakota, with Reverend Scott Spiehs officiating.  Lunch and fellowship will follow in the church basement. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield.

William Frost St. Clair was born June 27, 1937, in Owatonna, Minnesota to William W. and Marion (Damuth) St. Clair. He spent his childhood in Hopkins, Minnesota, graduating high school in 1955 and working summers in his family retail stores. He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus in 1959, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree and then he pursued a career in agriculture; settling in the community of Tulare, South Dakota.

On September 6, 1965, he married JoAnn A. Peterson in Wolsey, South Dakota, and to this union, two children were born, Deborah A. St. Clair and William E. St. Clair. Family, farming, and hard work were very important to William. He enjoyed time with his family during holidays and vacations. His passion was classic cars.  He joined the Classic Car Club of America when he was a teenager and continued to be an active member until his death. Long-lasting friendships were made in various classic car clubs, activities, and events that William loved and cherished very much.

William is survived by his loving wife (his angel) JoAnn St. Clair, children Deborah A. St. Clair and William E. St. Clair, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents William W. St. Clair and Marion (Damuth) St. Clair, brother John Blain St. Clair, half-brother Edwin St. Clair, grandparents, and cousins.
