Obituary

William M. Hixon, 74, of Frankfort, SD, died Friday, May 25, 2012 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen. Bill was cremated and his Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield. Father Christopher Hughes will celebrate the mass. Cremains burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery in Frankfort with military rites. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Bill was born July 5, 1937 in Spink County to Harry and Alzada (Bymers) Hixon. He grew up in the Brentford/Mellette area and attended school at Brentford and later Frankfort before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1955. Bill served in the Air Force for 25 years and was honorably discharged as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1980. Bill married Beatrice Robinson on December 31, 1957 in Frankfort. Bill served his country in Vietnam, Korea, Germany, Okinawa, Utah, Ft Worth, Louisiana, New Mexico and Arizona. After his discharge, he worked for a few years at Otis Engineering Elevators in Arizona. Bill and Beatrice moved to Frankfort in 2002 where Bill was a handyman.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Bill was a wonderful husband and father and is survived by his wife Beatrice of Frankfort; his children: Anna Reyes of Austin, TX; Michael (Lori) Hixon of Aquasco, MD; Dianne Peden of Balch Springs, TX; Thomas (Dawn) Hixon of Frankfort; and Tina Arenas of Dallas, TX; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Harry (Marian) Hixon, Opal Wolff, Irene Baylon, Dorothy (Elmer) Nielsen, Bob Hixon, Pat Dobberpuhl, Bonnie Marlow, Jerri Row and Vicki Hixon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Ruth Burr and Faye Weinreiss and infant brother and two infant sisters.
