Gerald F. Hansen was born May 21, 1938 in Aberdeen, SD, to F. Milton “Milt” and Violet (Walberg) Hansen. Jerry attended school in Redfield, graduating from Redfield High School in 1956. He attended college at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business.

Jerry married Angela D. Leesch on July 27, 1963 in Redfield, SD. They were happily married for 57 years and raised four daughters. He served in the SD National Guard for six years. Jerry worked alongside his father and brother, Harley, at Hansen Motor Company where he worked in many different capacities during his 50 plus years as an auto dealer.

Faith was very important to Jerry as was spending time with his family. He attended many of his daughters’ music and sporting events and loved spending time camping, fishing, enjoying music, working on automobiles, fixing any-and-all things possible, collecting antiques, volunteering in several organizations in the community, donating countless hours keeping the vintage firetrucks running for the museum, visiting with family and friends, and helping most anyone who asked.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Angela; four daughters, Marcia (Daniel) Mueller of IA, Beverly (Thomas) Bennert of MI, Melanie (Robert) Schraeder of CO, and Brenda (Scott) Osborn of SD; ten grandchildren, Michael (Rachel) Mueller, Matthew (Meghan Nelson) Mueller, Jacob Mueller, Katherine Bennert, Nicholas Bennert, Kendra Schraeder, Nathan Schraeder, Lauren Schraeder, Jarod Osborn, and Ryan Osborn; three great-grandchildren, Elijah, Evelyn, and Benjamin Mueller; his brother, Donald (Shirley) Hansen, of CA and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, F. Milton and Violet Hansen; his brother and sister-in-law, Harley and Connie Hansen.
