Keith Wayne “Skeeter” Wetzler was born on April 28, 1950 to Warren and Phyllis (Barr) Wetzler in Aberdeen, SD.  He was raised on the family farm near Northville.  He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1968.

After High School, Skeeter moved to Omaha, NE and completed 18 months of diesel mechanic school.

Skeeter married Barbara Nelson on May 26, 1973 at the United Methodist Church in Redfield.  Skeeter and Barb made their home on a farm near Northville where they raised their five children.  Skeeter farmed for over 50 years; raising cattle, milking cows and baling hay.  He worked for SD Wheat Growers for 25 years, before retiring.

During retirement Skeeter still enjoyed helping local farmers during harvest and planting trees for the Spink County Conservation District.

Skeeter enjoyed a long day of work and staying busy.  He enjoyed fishing, travelling, camping and his recent winters in Arizona.  He loved tinkering in his garage and working on his 1950 Chevy truck.  He was a huge supporter of all his children’s activities, which followed over to attending all his grandchildren’s activities.  His greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren.  Skeeter was always known for his kindness, his smile, his laugh and his ability to always spark a conversation.

Grateful to have shared his life is his wife of 46 years, Barb Wetzler of Northville; his five children: Lance (Lisa) Wetzler and their daughter Lyken of Billings, MT; Ross (Josie) Wetzler and their daughters: Mattingly, Bentley and Keeley of Townsend, MT; Wade (Amanda) Wetzler of Redfield, SD; Holly (Joel) Backous and their children: Mason, Owen, Ian and Maggie of Aberdeen, SD; Haley (Drew) Dickhaut of Redfield, SD and his brothers: Jerry, Neal and Tom and his sister Joan.
