Roger was born August 7, 1951, to Charles and Anna (Weiland) Jungwirth in Redfield, South Dakota. He graduated from Redfield High School in 1970. During high school, he participated in baseball and football and in 1969 was selected as the fullback to the 1st team Class A All-State Football Team.
In 1973, Roger married Barb Brand, and to this union their son Jason was born. Roger began his apprenticeship with Rux Brothers Plumbing. With years of hard work, he took over ownership of the business. After selling the business, he worked for Harr Plumbing until retiring in 2017.
Roger was a hard working and private man that enjoyed softball, bowling, hunting, and vegetable gardening. His garden always produced enough that he was able to share with friends and family.
Roger had a lifelong dream of being able to see his New York Yankees play at Yankee Stadium. Upon retirement, Harr Plumbing made this dream come true with a trip for two to New York and he was able to share the experience with his son Jason.
Roger is survived by his son Jason (Trisha) and their children, Chloe, Madelyn, and Gretchen of Pierre; siblings: Bernard, Shirley, and Sharon Jungwirth all of Redfield and Carol (Gary) Case of Sadelia, MO; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Robert, Richard, John, and Roland; and sisters: Donna, Jean Bode, and Anne Marie Modrell.
